Monitor protection status in real-time

The sizing of protective devices for electrical installations and server racks is determined based on the connected loads (IT servers).

The primary cause for a protective device to trip and potentially disrupt the power supply to the rack is an excessive current caused by an overloading of the rack (too many servers) or high current unbalance (servers plugged to the same phase).

In the event of a protective device tripping, it is crucial for the system to notify the site manager. Alarms should promptly alert local and remote operators and assist them in quickly locating the protective device which tripped.

To facilitate capacity planning and loads balancing, assist in preventative maintenance, and for quicker corrective actions, the energy and power monitoring system should be as granular as possible.

VirtualMonitor technology

Our exclusive VirtualMonitor technology monitors all phases supplying server bays and detects a lack of voltage on the output of the protective device. Integrated into the sensors themselves (iTR sensors, DIRIS Digiware S module and DIRIS Digiware BCM strip), this innovation provides a smart status monitoring without any additional equipment or wiring.

This technology monitors the real time status of protective devices, identifies the opening type (manual operation vs trip), and activates an alarm to inform site operators and remote maintenance personnel.
